Deprivation of Self Reflection
The deprivation and lack of self-reflective skills can lead to a myriad of problems that can lead to destructive outcomes. When one never questions their own behaviour, dangers run high. The most disastrous individuals lacked self-reflective skills - as Bertrand Russell says they are "always so certain of themselves" and make big claims without being open to criticism and other perspectives.

Special Treatment vs Empowerment
There is a difference between treating someone "specially" because you think they have something less than you or are not privileged, and standing by them as though they are a part of you and trusting in their own power. Your support comes from a different place and has a different outcome, that is by far more sustainable and powerful than the former.
